Adopt a Bench

Adopt a Trashcan

We need your creativity to add some sparkle to our 12th Annual HUG Detroit Day celebration!  We're looking for talented artists to adopt a bench or trash can and create a unique piece of artwork for the event.  We have 12 table benches and 10 cans that will be used for our complimentary lunch and we want them to shine with your artistic touch.  How can you help?

  • Join us for "Clean-Up Day" on Sunday, August 18, 1-4 PM, to help prepare for the big event the following week.

  • Adopt a Bench and/or Trash Can

  • Donate paint or give a love donation to help purchase the paint and supplies to bring these items to life.

And we have a special request for all our wonderful supporters ... please donate $2-$5 to help make the 12th Annual HUG Detroit Day celebration a huge success.  Your donation will help cover essential supplies and make a big difference!​ 

Let's come together to celebrate unity, love, fun and creativity.  Excited about HUG Detroit Day?  We are too!  So mark your calendars for August 25, 2024, 1-8 PM EST.  Let's make this year's HUG Detroit Day unforgettable!

More Volunteers Needed

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Shift

Set-Up Crew 

  • Volunteers Needed:** 5  

  • Tasks: Assist with setting up tents, tables, chairs, and other event equipment.

 

11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Shift

Corner Volunteers

  • Volunteers Needed:** 6 on each corner  

  • Tasks: Provide directions, answer questions, and ensure smooth foot traffic.

 

Registration Table (both locations)  

  • Volunteers Needed: 2  

  • Tasks: Register attendees, distribute wristbands, and provide event information.

 

Backpack Giveaway

  • Volunteers Needed: 4  

  • Tasks: Distribute backpacks, assist with crowd control.

 

Vendor Assistance

  • Volunteers Needed: 3  

  • Tasks: Assist vendors with setup and any required support.

 

Stage Hands

  • Volunteers Needed: 4  

  • Tasks: Assist performers, manage stage equipment.

 

Ushers 

  • Volunteers Needed: 4  

  • Tasks: Guide attendees to their seats, manage entry and exit points.

 

Arts & Craft Station  

  • Volunteers Needed: 2  

  • Tasks: Supervise craft activities, assist children.

 

Bouncy House #1**  

  • Volunteers Needed: 2  

  • Tasks: Supervise children, ensure safety.

 

Bouncy House #2  

  • Volunteers Needed: 2  

  • Tasks: Supervise children, ensure safety.

 

Horse Show  

  • Volunteers Needed: 4 (2 shifts)  

  • Tasks: Assist with horse show setup, manage crowd control.

Clean-Up Crew  

  • Volunteers Needed: 4  

  • Tasks: Ensure all event areas are clean, help with breaking down equipment.

 

NOTE TO VOLUNTEERS:

Please arrive 20 minutes before your shift to check in and receive your assignments.  Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and bring water and snacks.  Thank you for your support in making the 12th Annual HUG Detroit Day a great success.
